Workshop in Baska 2011
Each year we will organise a workshop. The first one was held in Baska at the island of Krk in Croatia on October 5.-8. 2011. Two teachers and the principal from each school participated, a total of 85 participants.
At the workshop we learned about dendrochronology, dendroclimatology and practiced how to drill tree ring cores and how to prepare them for further analysis. We also focused on the student inquiry method with examples from the Seasons and Biomes project. Elena Sparrow and Marta Kopplin travelled all the way from Alaska to share their knowledge in this field.
In addition each pair of schools developed a plan for their collaboration. Next year we will meet again in The Czech Republic, hopefully with a lot of good student research projects to present.
